The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) is on the lookout for 10 new research and data science laboratories to spur innovation activities in the country in 2024. DOST PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico C. Paringit made the announcement as the Council opens its Call for Proposals for the Institution Development Program (IDP), Regional Research Institution (RRI), Good Governance through Data Science and Decision Support Systems (GODDESS), and the Balik Saliksik program.

Naawan, Misamis Oriental –The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and Mindanao State University (MSU) at Naawan officially unveiled the P6.2 million nanoCORE Lab: Computational Nanotechnology Technology Laboratory, the first nanotechnology lab in Northern Mindanao, to provide a platform for groundbreaking research in nanotechnology. DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director Dr. Enrico C. Paringit commended MSU-Naawan for spearheading the establishment of nanoCORE lab and expressed his excitement about the potential impact of the facility. "MSU-Naawan has set a commendable example in advancing scientific exploration. We are confident that this facility is poised to advancing scientific research and fostering innovation in the field of computational nanotechnology," he said. The nanoCORE Lab will focus on the development of new nanomaterials, computational modeling of nanoscale phenomena, and nanotechnology applications in fields such as medicine, energy, and electronics.

With the support of funding and the vision of expanding science, technology, and innovation, the Department of Science and Technology—Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and the University of Antique (UA) officially inaugurated on November 29, 2023, the first food research and development laboratory in the province. Dubbed the UA Centralized Analytical Testing Laboratory (CATL), this 28-million-peso facility was designed to give Western Visayan students, teachers, and researchers access to cutting-edge tools, technical support, and laboratory services such as complete proximate nutrient analysis, microbiological analysis, shelf-life testing, sensory evaluation, and soil and water analyses.
