Circular Economy in the Philippines is progressing as a holistic approach to address environmental challenges and contribute to the global effort to combat climate change. Its integration is essential to the country’s long-term sustainability and resilience. On the other hand, ensuring an accessible and secure energy supply involves a multifaceted approach that includes diversifying the energy mix, implementing vigorous policies, and embracing technological innovations.In line with this, the DOST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) is ready to accept research and development (R&D)/Science and Technology (S&T) proposals aligned with the Southeast Asia-Europe Joint Funding Scheme for Research and Innovation – 8th Joint Call for Proposals under the thematic areas of “Circular Economy” and “Accessible and Secure Energy Supply”.

This funding opportunity encourages S&T collaboration and applied research among Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), government Research and Development Institutes (RDIs), and non-profit S&T networks and organizations seeking funding for their R&D/S&T initiatives.This funding opportunity encourages S&T collaboration and applied research among Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), government Research and Development Institutes (RDIs), and non-profit S&T networks and organizations seeking funding for their R&D/S&T initiatives.For this Call, there will be two thematic areas which are as follows: Circular Economy which will cover the topics circular solutions for plastic packaging and products; and Accessible and Secure Energy Supply, specifically green hydrogen production and utilization.
